Dear SCA Members,

In this newsletter we look back at the youth world championships in Dubai! Furthermore, SCA will be closed during the upcoming national holidays and the ALV is coming up again.
Closed during national holidays
The FOS will be closed during the following national holidays:
  • Monday 18 April, Easter
  • Wednesday 27 April, King’s day
  • Thursday 5 May, Liberation day
  • Thursday 26 May, Ascension day
The Apollohal will also be closed on the following days:
  • Wednesday 27 April, King’s day
  • Wednesday 4 May, National Remembrance day

On these days, there will be no training!

ALV Save the Date

On 14 June at 19:00, the SCA general members’ meeting (ALV) will take place. During the ALV, the board will look back at 2021 together with SCA members, and present policy plans for 2022. The agenda and annual report will be shared in due time. We hope that many of you are able to attend!

Youth World Championships in Dubai

As announced at the SCA website, several SCA fencers participated in the youth world championships in Dubai in the beginning op April! Here they got the chance to show what they have been training for, with good results and new experiences as the outcome:

Men sabre juniors individual (153 participants)

  • 113 – Bote Schaafsma
Men sabre juniors equipe (34 participants)
  • 34 – Bote Schaafsma together with Jasper Hendriks & Thijmen Schreuder of Surtout
Women foil juniors individual (149 participants)
  • 45 – Elise Butin Bik
  • 108 – Tessa Koster
  • 114 – Valerie Buijse
Women foil juniors equipe (32 participants)
  • 28 – Elise Butin Bik, Valerie Buijse, Tessa Koster together with Ava Emanuel of HollandSchermen
Women foil cadets individual (104 participants)
  • 87 – Valerie Buijse
Lastly, SCA trainers Arash and Matthijs were in Dubai in there roles as coaches for the Dutch sabre and foil teams!
